Interview: Sgt. Phil Farion

Sgt. Phil Farion is now in his 30th year with the Saskatoon police force. He became aware of the Wiwcharuk murder case as a 12-year-old paperboy when the story was front page news. He first worked on the case in 1989 as a criminal intelligence analyst and again as the forensics organizer with fellow officer Neil Wylie in 2003. In 2004, Farion took over the case as part of his work on the Historical Case Unit, Major Crimes Division. In addition to his work on History Case Unit, he is the Coordinator of the Missing Persons Task Force. (From the CBC)

For four women, in particular, the murder of Alexandra Wiwcharuk is intensely personal. They are Alex’s nieces, the daughters of her sister, Pearl.
